Requirements
Must have:
- We require a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with experience in power electronics and controls, or a masters degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience. - We require 3 years of experience conducting power electronics research, including modeling, simulation, and the design of power electronic circuits and control systems. - We require 3 years of experience developing and testing power converters and related devices. - We require 3 years of experience creating and validating control solutions for power converters and devices. - We value familiarity with DC grid concepts, including medium- and high-voltage DC systems. - We value knowledge of energy storage technologies. - We value exposure to microgrids and the integration of renewable energy into the grid. - We require legal authorization to work in the United States. - We require the ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. - We require willingness to work from our office in Niskayuna, New York.
Responsibilities:
- We work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, develop, and transition new technologies from concept into products and services for internal and external clients. - We participate in the development of new power technologies and capabilities for our next-generation product platforms. - We innovate in the power electronics domain by advancing new concepts and applications. - We model and simulate power electronics systems to evaluate performance and guide design decisions. - We design, build, test, and characterize power converters, converter submodules, and power electronic devices. - We develop and validate EMI filters for converter applications. - We create, test, and refine control solutions for power converters and devices. - We prepare written reports and deliver presentations to communicate analyses, findings, and recommended solutions. - We track emerging industry trends and bring the latest technological developments into our organization. - We support proposal development for GE businesses and government agencies. - We contribute to advanced power conversion concepts for use in power generation, transmission, and distribution applications.
