Requirements
Must have:
- We require a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with at least 10 years of industry experience, or a Masters degree with at least 13 years of industry experience, or a Bachelors degree with at least 15 years of industry experience. - We require 5 or more years of a strong record of developing successful proposals with U.S. government organizations such as DOE, ARPA-e, CESER, DOD, DARPA, and similar agencies. - We require 5 or more years of experience building software for embedded systems, including computer architecture, Linux operating systems, and network protocols. - We require 5 or more years of experience in Linux security and Linux driver development. - We require 5 or more years of practical knowledge of cryptographic methods, protocols, or standards such as TLS and X.509. - We require 5 or more years of experience applying hardware-based security approaches such as HSM, TPM, ARM TrustZone, and Secure Boot. - We prefer experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus/TCP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, OPC UA/DA, BACnet, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, MQTT, and CAN/CANopen. - We prefer experience with ICS/SCADA environments, including PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, historians, fieldbus, and edge gateway architectures. - We prefer familiarity with OT network design concepts such as the Purdue Model, segmentation, VLANs, firewalls, and zero-trust approaches in OT. - We prefer knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards and practices such as IEC 62443, NERC CIP, NIST 800-82, SBOM, and secure firmware updates. - We prefer strong programming skills in C/C and Python. - We prefer experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, QNX, and Green Hills. - We prefer experience working with real-time embedded platforms, microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors. - We require willingness to work from our Niskayuna, NY office. - We require legal authorization to work in the United States; we do not provide current or future employment visa sponsorship for this role. - We require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities:
- We will rely on you to design, implement, and validate OT cybersecurity solutions for industrial control systems and embedded environments. - We expect you to identify and pursue external funding opportunities for advanced OT cybersecurity research in partnership with U.S. government agencies. - We will count on you to lead proposal development as both principal investigator and technical subject matter expert. - We expect you to collaborate with universities, national laboratories, consortiums, commercial partners, and other stakeholders to advance OT cybersecurity for embedded systems. - We will ask you to lead innovation efforts as project lead and principal investigator on multi-million-dollar R\&D initiatives. - We expect you to guide technology roadmaps with our businesses and advance solutions from lab demonstrations to field-ready prototypes. - We will look to you to publish technical articles, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities. - We expect you to help mature emerging technologies and transition them into our business products. - We will ask you to build strategic partnerships that strengthen our embedded cybersecurity capabilities.
