Galpin Motors is seeking a dynamic, full-time attorney with at least 5 years of experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and corporate compliance to join our collaborative Legal Team. As a key partner to our business units, you will protect the organization while helping drive practical business solutions. Experience in the automotive, franchise, or retail sectors is highly valued and considered a significant plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Modern Contract Management: Review, negotiate, and revise a wide variety of commercial contracts in collaboration with business units, HR, compliance, sales, and executive management. Embrace and utilize emerging legal AI and contract lifecycle management (CLM) technologies to optimize workflows and accelerate review times.
- Regulatory \& Data Compliance: Provide legal support on regulatory compliance matters, including corporate policy development, privacy regulations, responding to subpoenas, and handling regulatory requests.
- Real Estate Transactions: Assist with legal matters related to dealership property and real estate, including drafting and reviewing leasing and transaction documents.
- Proactive Risk Management: Stay ahead of industry-specific regulations and legal trends, designing and implementing practical risk management strategies to protect the organization.
- Corporate Governance: Draft and review corporate documentation to ensure compliance and strict alignment with overarching business objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Active admission to the California State Bar (or qualified to register as California In-House Counsel).
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably with corporate in-house experience.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation, drafting, and compliance policy implementation.
- Familiarity with consumer privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and regulations applicable to the automotive, dealership, or retail sectors is highly desirable.
